Za moju Bosnu Kadiric BelmaMembers of the Australian Bosnian community in all major cities continue to raise funds to help flood victims of the worst natural disaster in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Saturday night (24 May 2014) many members and friends of B&H gathered at the BHMZSA venue at Royal Park in Adelaide. While watching news reports and scenes from the devastated areas on a big screen, everyone was deeply affected and touched by the extent of the destruction all over the country.

Mr Almir Alispahic, the AUBHA’s spokesperson and president of the BHMZSA was pleased with the outcome: “The total proceeds are $17,000, which includes donations from the previous week. Considering the size of the Bosnia and Herzegovina community in Adelaide and South Australia, we are very happy with the collected amount. At the same time we would like to thank everyone involved for their generosity and support.

Muhamed Merdzanic briefly reported from Perth about and the efforts in Australian Bosnian-Herzegovinian Cultural and Recreational Centre. So far, over $8,000 has been collected and the major fundraising event is scheduled on 31 May.

More charity fundraising next weekend

According to Semsudin Malagic from Gold Coast, Labrador FC is also running a campaign on Saturday 31 May. Soccer games will kick off from 10 AM and everybody is welcome.

Bosnian community in NSW is also working hard. On Sunday (25 May), Gazy Lansvale and Liverpool Bossy played a soccer match, with all profit going to flood victims. However, a much bigger event is planned for next week (Sat 31 May) at ABHC Leppington.

In Wollongong, Edin Caus, Ekrem Kobic and Hitko Bilanovic, editors and producers of Bosnian radio program VOX FM 106.9 will get involved in raising funds.

Tamara Lukic from Canberra also contacted AUBHA and will try to collect urgently needed funds for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

More news from other organisations and cities will be added soon.

We appeal to everyone to spread the news about this enormous tragedy and try to get help wherever possible, including the Australian Government.
